"Zarubezhneft" is actively coming into the CIS countries market, especially into the Caspian states - Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

In 2001 “Zarubezhneft” and company group “Itera” signed an Agreement with the Government of Turkmenistan regarding the intention to participate in the oil and gas deposits exploration. In order to implement these projects “Zarubezhneft” and “Itera” established a joint company ZAO “ZarIT”, which also includes OAO “Oil Company “Rosneft”.

The parties are negotiating with Turkmenistan a production sharing agreement on exploration works at the offshore blocks of the Caspian Sea with the subsequent hydrocarbon production.

Parties are working on increasing intensification of hydrocarbon production at the facilitated fields of Turkmenistan.

Now “Zarubezhneft” is considering participation in a number of projects, implemented in the oil and gas bearing blocks of Kazakhstan. Some of the projects will be also implemented through the JV “Nestro - Nuraly”, established by “Zarubezhneft” and Kazakh oil company “Nuraly Munai”.

According to the decree of the Russian Government “Zarubezhneft” got the right for an option in developing oil field “Kurmangasy” on the Caspian shelf.
