Moscow. 10th of April, 2009. Interfax PIA - JSC “Zarubezhneft” in October-November plans to start production on the Doi Moi structure of block 09-3 on the shelf of Vietnam, said the head of “Zarubezhneft” Nikolay Brunich to the Interfax Petroleum Information Agency.
In this project shares are distributed as follows: “Zarubezhneft” owns 50%, Petrovietnam - 35% and Japanese Idemitsu – 15%.
Brunich said that the parties of the project have already approved the investment program for 2009 in amount of $95 millions.
“JV “Vietsovpetro” is an operator, because the project development and execution process will be executed on the base of infrastructure already created in the JV”, - he added.
Brunich also said that the Vietnamese corporation Petrovietnam that is partner of “Zarubezhneft” in JV “Vietsovpetro” offered the Russian company to examine some projects for the joint work in third countries. “We have Petrovietnam’s offer to take part in projects in Algeria; moreover we’ve been analyzing one area in Myanma”, - he noticed.
According to the head of “Zarubezhneft”, at the present time the company experts analyze the performance capability of these areas. “But now it’s difficult to speak about any perspectives.
The most perspective oil areas of the world have already been distributed. The rest are deep water areas or scavenger oil”, - the head of Russian company said.
“After geologists present their conclusion on the production capability of these projects and primary basic data appears, we will be able to speak about preparation terms of a feasibility report”, Brunich said.
According to the earlier report, in 2008 on the Doi Moi structure of the block 09-3 an oil field with oil reserves of about 50 millions tons was discovered. It was planned to set two offshore platforms on the Doi Moi structure. According to the plan the total of 12 wells should be drilled on this field.
The parties of JV “Vietsovpetro” are JSC “Zarubezhneft” and Petrovietnam. “Vietsovpetro” has exploration and production licenses for two fields offshore the South of Vietnam - "White Tiger", "Dragon"- and block 04-3.
